Joanne Margaret Baker

Joanne Margaret Baker, 64, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home followed by a Service to celebrate Joanne's life at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.

Born in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Joanne was raised on Sullivan's Island and James Island, where she developed a lifelong love for the Lowcountry.

Joanne dedicated her career to the dental field, working as an orthodontic assistant, orthodontic technician, and laboratory technician. She took great pride in helping others and brought the same compassion and attention to detail to her work that she did to every aspect of her life.

Joanne embraced life with energy, enthusiasm, and a competitive spirit. A gifted athlete, she loved playing volleyball, softball, and basketball, and she carried that same passion for staying active throughout her life. Whether she was spending the day at the beach, casting a fishing line, or laughing with her grandchildren while playing Roblox, Joanne found joy in life's simple moments. Her vibrant personality, infectious laugh, and ability to bring people together made every moment spent with her one to remember.

Above all else, Joanne was devoted to her family. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and found her greatest happiness in making those around her smile. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Joanne had the biggest heart, consistently put others before herself and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Joanne's faith was the foundation of her life. She taught her family to trust God, lean into their faith, and remain strong through life's most difficult moments. Those lessons will continue to guide the many lives she influenced.

She is survived by her mother, Anne Overton; her devoted husband, Thomas Baker; her daughters, Rachel Dienst (Brad) and Maryellen Stoner (Trey); and her beloved grandchildren, Warren, Noah, Emily, and Olivia. She is also survived by her siblings, extended family, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Though Joanne's presence will be deeply missed, the love, compassion, laughter, strength, and unwavering faith she shared with others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
