Joan Donovan Keating

Today Joan lost her 18 month old battle with cancer. For those who knew her know she fought that battle always with a smile and a never give up attitude. As she would tell all those caring for her,"I will live till I die", and live she did every day. Joan was born in New York City and was an only child. She lost her father in 1966 and her mother in 2010.She was educated at St. Joseph's, Brentwood, NY, St.John's University, Queens and followed with a Masters in Education at UC Berkley. She was a born teacher and spent her career in Catholic grammar schools both in New York as well as here in South Carolina. Joan had been a well respected and loved teacher at Charleston Catholic School since 2005 and it has been her passion. It is because of this passion for teaching, love of children and her dedication to Charleston Catholic School that the family is requesting in lieu of flowers you please donate to a "playground" fund set up in Joan's memory. See web site for details. She is survived by her husband Eddie and children Donovan 23yo and Gabrielle 20yo.
