Joan Hall Holst

Joan Hall Holst, 81, wife of Jack Gilbert Holst of Charleston, entered into eternal rest Friday, May 31, 2024, with her devoted, adoring husband at her side. Her Funeral Service will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joan was the eldest child of the late Caroline Adele Bunch and Joshua Dye Hall. A WWII baby, she was born at the Charleston Naval Hospital on March 7, 1943. Joan retired after a 30-year career with AT&T as an Administrative Assistant. In 1999, she established the Charleston shop "Memories and Miniature Memories", which offered dollhouses, collectibles, Christmas, and antiques.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Jack; sister Barbara H. England (Harry) and their son Erin Thomas England (Elaina) and children Georgia Caroline, Marie Adele, and Charles Thomas "Tommy"; brother Dwane "Thomas" Hall (Linda) and their daughter Jennifer DeAnne Phillips (Andrew) of Massachusetts; sister Katrin Elaine Brockinton (Leon) and their sons Bruce, Dustin, and Brandon (Katy) of Arkansas.

Joan was preceded in death by two sisters: Linda Dianne Hall, and Sharon Lynn Kertnar and husband Gus; their surviving children are Amy Elizabeth "Beth" Lombardi (her children are Lauren Abigail Lombardi and Haley Leighanne Ferguson and her husband Shane) of Charleston, and Allison Emery Hays and husband Trey (their son is Jay) of Augusta, GA. Joan is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
