Charleston, SC - Jeddie C Ayers, 86, widower of Laura V. Ayers, formerly of Lake City, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in Charleston. Relatives and friends of Jeddie C. Ayers are invited to attend his funeral service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Brockington Funeral Home Chapel, Lake City, SC. Burial will follow in Scranton United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Ayers was born in Lake City, SC, a son of the late Fred W. Ayers and Taska Owens Ayers. He and his wife resided in Scranton, SC, where they raised their 3 children until 1995 when they moved to Ft Mill, SC and in July 2010 relocated to Charleston, SC. He was employed with Wentworth Manufacturing of Lake City for 23 years and retired from Avondale Mfg Co of Olanta. He was a former member of the Scranton Fire Dept and a member of Scranton United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years and his son, Michael W. Ayers. He is survived by a daughter, Gail Ayers Lyons of Plant City, FL; a son, Jeff Ayers of Charleston, SC; three brothers, Freddie and Carroll Ayers both of Abbeville, SC and Ronald Ayers of Cherryville, NC; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
