Jeanne Collins Miller, 93, of Charleston, SC, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Roper St. Francis Hospice Cottage.
Jeanne was born in Pittsfield, MA on July, 29, 1927, a daughter of Bernard M. Collins, Sr. and Elizabeth Murphy Collins. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, and attended the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, NY. She had previously resided in Alexandria, VA, West Hartford, CT, Juno Beach, FL, and Lee, MA before moving to Charleston to live with family.
Mrs. Miller worked as a medical assistant with the office of William P. Keefe, MD in Hartford, CT before retiring to Florida.
Jeanne was a communicant of St. Timothy's Church in West Hartford, CT, as well as St. Mary's Church in Lee, CT. She was a Girl Scout Leader and volunteer at Jupiter Hospital in Florida. She was an avid reader, lover of crosswords, enjoyed traveling and painting, and entertaining family and friends with her endless warmth and humor.
Her husband, Harry F. Miller, whom she married July 17, 1954, died March 5, 2005.
She leaves a daughter, Sheila M. Smith of Charleston, SC, her husband, Tom, and grandchildren, Ryan and Collin; a son, Shaun F. Miller of Deptford, NJ, his wife, Elaine, and grandson, Christopher; and a sister, Sheila C. Burns of Juno Beach, FL.
She was predeceased by four sisters, Mary 'Teacie' Furer, Elizabeth 'Leba' Miller, Bernardine 'Bunny' Cook, and Helen C. Meehan; and three brothers, Dr. Daniel J. Collins, Dr. William K. Collins and Dr. Bernard M. Collins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
