Jean Ann Hairfield

Jean Ann Hairfield, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, November 4, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at the St. Joseph Columbarium, with a luncheon following immediately in the church hall. The family will receive friends between 4:30 and 6:30 PM Thursday at 1070 Meader Lane, Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Born in Springfield, Missouri on February 8, 1948, Jean was the daughter of the late Gene and Betty Ricketts. She graduated from Bishop England High School before attending the University of South Carolina and graduating from College of Charleston. Jean went on to complete her Masters in Education from The Citadel. She retired from teaching in Dorchester County schools in 2010. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Charleston.

Jean is survived by her son, Benjamin Hairfield (Emily), daughter Julie Hairfield, granddaughter McKenna Hairfield, all of Charleston, SC, and cousin Patricia Scarafile of Mount Pleasant, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Association, Charleston, SC Chapter ( www.alz.org/sc ).
