Janet S. Aydlette, 82, entered into eternal rest on the morning of March 26, 2024, in Charleston, SC.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at St. Andew’s Anglican Church, 440 Whilden Street, Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be private.
Janet was born March 6, 1942, in Wilmington, NC. She was the eldest daughter of the late Ray and Ruth Shepard of Wilson, NC. After graduating high school in Wilson, she attended the College of William and Mary Norfolk School of Nursing. Following graduation, she married her husband, Charles Aydlette, Sr. She worked in hospitals in Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, FL, as well as St. Francis Hospital and MUSC in Charleston, SC. She was a devout Christian who gave tirelessly to her church and the local community, working long hours at the Tea Room at Christ Church in Mt Pleasant, active in the Cursillo movement, as well as volunteering and then hired on as staff at Windwood Farm, Home for Boys.
She loved to fish, read books, travel and cook for her family, passing on those passions to her sons.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Aydlette, Sr.; her sister, Alice Plaatje and her brother, Ray Shepard, Jr.
Janet is survived by her three sons, Charles Aydlette Jr. (Heather), John Aydlette and Richard Aydlette; her granddaughters, Catherine (Garrett) Casias, Elizabeth Aydlette and Lydia Aydlette; her sister, Gail Boswell (Tommy) and her brother, Philip Shepard (Angel) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
