Jane Elizabeth Piazza, 97, widow of Arnold L. Piazza, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 21, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, 604 Fort Johnson Rd. on James Island.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Jane was born December 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Clementine Cruthers and James Anthony Foy. She was a graduate of Girls' Commercial High School in Brooklyn, attended Hofstra College and the College of Charleston. She was retired from the Charleston County School System after many years of faithful service as a teacher.
Jane was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was also active in many civic organizations including the Pilot Club, Past President of B.P.O. Does Drove #231, Federation of Women's Club (Woman of the Year and Hall of Fame), and also volunteered for 10 years at the VA Hospital and 20 years at MUSC Children's Hospital as well as the U.S.O. and a blood donor.
Mrs. Piazza is survived by her son Arnold L. Piazza, Jr., 4 Grandchildren: Michelle Hayes, Brian Heffner, Trey Heffner, and Travis Piazza; 6 Great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Erica Jane, Quinton, Sophia, Elise, and Evan; and 2 Great-great-grandchildren: Melody Joy and Quada. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laraine P. Heffner.
