Jane Ellen Sanders Finnerty, 61, wife of Edward Finnerty, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 5, 2014, surrounded by her family and loved ones. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Finnerty, Jr. are invited to attend the Funeral Service for the latter at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy., Charleston. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends between 6:00 & 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Jane was born in Beckley, West Virginia, on February 24, 1953, a daughter of the late Louis Sanders, and Louise Murdock Sanders, who survives. She started her Barber career at Mooney's Barber Shop in West Ashley, where Jane and Mr. Mooney became good friends and neighbors. Her career as a barber spanned 26 years, including 10 years as the owner and operator of The Barber Shop at Northbridge. Jane's infectious smile was often seen in the community, where she freely gave of her time cutting hair at the homeless shelters, hospitals, and nursing homes. Her favorite pasttimes were baking, cooking, crafts, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was especially fond of her two poodles, Abby and Sammy, both of whom were with her for nearly 20 years. Jane was a long-time member of Stono Baptist Church. Dearly loved by her family and friends, she was a woman of great faith and kindness. Survivors include her husband, Edward FInnerty, Jr., her son Brian Fettue of Oklahoma City, OK, 2 sisters: Drema Carter (Johnny) of Earhardt, SC, Debra Carter (Mike) of Wadmalaw Island, SC; 1 brother, Mark Sanders of Wadmalaw Island, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
