James Patrick Toma, Jr. 54, of Charleston, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 21, 2009 after a long battle with lung cancer. James a disabled veteran served his country honorably in the United States Army. Known for being a generous, gentle soul who always looked out for others, James played the guitar passionately, collected coins and loved cars. James' presence in this world will be greatly missed and this world will be a lesser place without our beloved brother. James was the son of James Patrick Toma Sr., and the brother of Ervine O. Booth; both deceased. Surviving family members include his mother, Catherine R. Toma; three brothers, David, Paul and Thomas; two sisters, Vickie and Bonnie and nephew, David J. Toma. The viewing is this evening from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. The funeral service is Saturday, October 24th at 1:00 p.m. at the graveside in Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island.
