James Winston Strider

James Winston Strider, 95, of Charleston, SC passed away January 19, 2022.

He was born on January 21, 1926, in Mount Gilead, North Carolina, son of Lee Jesse Strider and Annie Burroughs Strider.  He leaves behind a son, James W. Strider, Jr.

Mr. Strider was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Thomas Lee Strider; his beloved wife of 70 years, Emily Durant Strider and his much loved and continually missed daughter, Emily Rebecca Strider.

He attended North Carolina State University, where he majored in Textile Management.  He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater.  Mr. Strider was employed by Commercial Credit Company, First National Bank and retired from Wachovia.

He was a loving and devoted father and husband. Mr. Strider was active in the Charleston Exchange Club, The Hibernian Society and was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
