James Joseph Gorman, Jr.

James Joseph Gorman, Jr., 89, recently of the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 28, 2017. The relatives and friends of James J. Gorman, Jr., are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 1200 PM, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal, at Holy Cross Cemetery, will be private.

James was born on September 4, 1928 in Charleston, SC, the oldest of seven children. His parents were Marguerite Hoppmann Gorman and James Joseph Gorman. He attended parochial schools and Murray Vocational High School. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and retired as a Chief Engineer in 1973. James was a long-time, active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and participated faithfully in Perpetual Adoration. He loved God, his family and country.

He is survived by three brothers, Hugh D. Gorman (Sally), Joseph L. Gorman (Carolyn), Michael F. Gorman (Sandra); a sister, Margaret G. MacGregor, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Francis Gorman and a sister, Ann G. Gerald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Dr., Charleston, SC 29407.
