James Marshall Boles, age 77, passed away at home on Friday, April 6, 2012. He was born in Landis, NC on March 3, 1935, the second son of James Lennie Boles and Sarah Marie Vaughn Boles. Mr. Boles served in the U.S. Air Force (Korean War) and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Surviving are his children, J. Marsha Boles and Jonathan David Boles, both of the home; his brother, Lennie (Mary) Boles of Summerville; several nieces and nephews; his former wife, Agnes Irene Shaw Boles of Charleston, and Aurea, beloved cat and nursemaid until the end. He was predeceased by his brother, Nolan Boles, of North Charleston. The family will receive guests on Monday, April 9, between 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad Street, on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:00 PM. The Rite of Committal will be at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Charleston or the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
