It is with great sadness that the family of James Burwell Bobo, Sr., announces his passing on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, after a brave battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was 82 and leaves behind his wife, Margaret, his three children, Valli, Jim, and Julia, his sister, Rosemary Owen and five grandchildren, Blair, Austin and Kelsey Johnson and Emily and Shell Cox.
Jim Bobo graduated from MUSC College of Pharmacy in 1958 and began his career at The Prescription Center on Rutledge Ave. in Charleston. He eventually became the sole proprietor of the pharmacy and served the community in this role for over 50 years. He was a member of First Scots Presbyterian Church, the Lions Club, the Huguenot Society of SC and Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society. He served as Lowcountry Director on the SC Pharmacy Association Board of Directors.
The family will receive friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Friday, February 2, 2018, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2018, at First Scots Presbyterian Church on Meeting St. Burial will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 5, 2018, at Clinton United Methodist Churchyard, 110 Old Highway 18, Gray, GA 31032.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in memory of Jim, may be made to First Scots Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29401 or to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Rd., North Charleston 29406.
