Jacqueline Virginia O'Shaughnessy

Jacqueline Virginia Garrick O'Shaughnessy, 91, of James Island, widow of Ret. Cmdr. James David O'Shaughnessy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2014. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Jacqueline V. O'Shaughnessy are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2014, at The Church of the Nativity. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:40 at the Church. The Rite of Committal will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Church of the Nativity, Building Fund, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. A special "Thank You" to all the wonderful "angels" at Bishop Gadsden whose dedicated care of our mother is truly appreciated. Jackie was born on November 2, 1923, in Norway, SC, the daughter of Benjamin and Lillian Garrick. She graduated from Winthrop University and USC Graduate School. After college, she taught elementary school in Beaufort, Columbia and Charleston. One of her true passions was to read cookbooks - and it showed in all the tasty, delicious meals she cooked. Her grandchildren can attest to their absolute favorite - her macaroni and cheese! Jackie's favorite meal was fresh, fried shrimp and flounder. After the passing of her husband, Jackie and her friends enjoyed traveling to several locations including Australia, England, and Italy. She was a devout Catholic and member of Church of the Nativity. Jackie was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary, The Theresians Club, Meals on Wheels and Birthright. One of her fun daily activities included the newspaper's Jumble and Sudoku. Her true love was her six grandchildren who affectionately called her Grandma Jackie. She was in all aspects a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all. Jackie is survived by her son Michael O'Shaughnessy, daughter Missi Moody, son in law Daryl Moody, and ex-daughter in law Millie O'Shaughnessy. Six grandchildren: Callie, Holly, and Maggie O'Shaughnessy and Megan, Rhett, and Matthew Moody. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Hughes and Harriet Garrick.
