Jack Perry Greene, Jr.

September 8, 1951 — June 11, 2024

Jack “Perry” Greene, Jr, 72, of Charleston SC, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Perry was born in Asheville, NC on September 8, 1951. He was the only child of Jack P. Greene, Sr. and Theodocia Macaulay Greene. He was raised in Mt. Pleasant and after graduating from Fort Moultrie High School, and two years in College, Perry joined the United States Air Force as a Medical Technician. When he left the Air Force, he returned to Charleston and pursued his career as an EMT with Herbert’s Ambulance Service and Colleton County EMS.

He advanced to Paramedic and joined Charleston County EMS in 1980. He worked his way up the ranks and in 1993, joined the administrative team of CCEMS as a Supervisor, OSHA compliance and training officer. He was promoted to the position of Safety Officer and retired, in 2000, as a Captain. He loved his career with EMS and always said his favorite calls were the “little old ladies with the dwindles”.

Perry’s other love in life was his music. He and his close friends created their band Second Wind. He was never happier than being up on stage entertaining his friends and singing his heart out! His gigs with Don, Herbie, John and Randy were some of his most cherished memories. He has always been a source of levity, quick with his wit, and generous with his time, talent and support. He will be greatly missed.

Perry was preceded in death by his mother, Theo and father, Jack. He is survived by his loving wife, Aline; his Aunt Regis Greene Engelhardt, cousins Cynde Buckles, Betsy Williams, Kaye Martin and Ted Williams. Ricky Gerry, who was like a son to him. Gary Anderson, who was like a brother and all his brothers and sisters’ in-laws, nieces, nephews and many more.
