Irene Burk Tezza

Irene B. Tezza, 94, of Charleston, SC, the widow of Mark J. " Mickey" Tezza, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. The relatives and friends of Irene B. Tezza are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM, Monday, November 18, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday afternoon at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM. Irene was born in Charleston on June 8, 1919, a daughter of Lewis S. and Irene B. Santos Burk. She attended Bennett Elementary, Murray Vocational High School and was the bookkeeper for H. Tezza, Inc. Tile Co. for over thirty years. Irene was a lifetime member and Past President of Women in Construction (WIC). She was also a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Women's Guild. Irene was a very loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She is survived by her 3 sons: Michael J. Tezza (Pam), John G. Tezza and William A. Tezza and his wife, Cynthia McCants; her 2 sisters: Ruth B. Gay and Barbara B. DeWitt as well as 3 grandchildren, Katie, Austin and Scott. She was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Catherine B. Lienbach and Peggy Burk.
