Horace Moody Williams, of James Island, SC, US Navy (Ret.) and husband of Weda Mae Williams, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 24, 2023, at the age of 100. The relatives and friends of Horace and Weda Mae Williams are invited to attend his Funeral Service 10:30 AM Monday, March 6, 2023, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place 2:00 PM that day at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
Mr. Williams was born on May 5, 1922 in Georgetown County, son of the late James Moody Williams and Maggie Cribb and stepmother Mamie. Senior Chief Williams retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. Then later he retired from Navelex. He was a Master Mason member of The Strict Observance Lodge #73.
Horace enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and gardening. Most of all what he loved more than anything was time spent with his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 74 years, and their two children James Delance "Lanny" and Debbie (Andy) of James Island, SC. Mr. Williams' memory will also be a blessing to his grandchildren, Michelle Watson of Charleston, Matthew Rahn (Lizzie) and Travis Rahn of Atlanta, GA, and his great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Walker, James and Luke.
Horace is survived by his sister Elise Nations, and many nieces and nephews which he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his sister, Edith (Robert) and brother Winfred (Mary Alice) of Hemingway, SC.
