Helen Loraine Williams, widow of Daniel B. Williams Sr., passed away Sunday January 20 at Hospice of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Helen was born March 5, 1925 in Lawrenceburg, TN. She is the daughter of Marvin A. Bailey and Martha Hunt Bailey. At the age of eighteen, she left the family farm and moved to Savannah, Georgia to work at the South E. Shipyard in the construction of Liberty ships during World War II. There she met her future husband, Dan, who was stationed with the Coast Guard. After the war, they moved back to her husband's hometown of Charleston. Helen was the sole remaining of eleven siblings. She is survived by her three children Daniel B. Williams (Cecilia), Elizabeth L. Daniel (Richard) and Michael T. Williams, all of Charleston. She had eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Helen Loraine Williams are invited to attend her funeral service at 11:00AM on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at James A. McAlister Chapel.
