Harry Colcock Hutson, Jr., 90, of Mount Pleasant, widower of Alice Lucas Hutson, entered into eternal rest at his residence on Friday, July 10, 2015. The relatives and friends of Harry C. Hutson, Jr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Trinity Episcopal Church 1589 Hwy. 174, Edisto Island. Interment will follow in the Churchyard. The family will receive friends on Monday between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Harry was born in Charleston on Monday, June 1, 1925, a son of Harry Colcock and Katherine Lydia Jenkins Hutson. He graduated from Charleston High School and Clemson University. Harry honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was employed by SCE&G for eighteen years and retired from Utilities Construction Co. after twenty- two years of faithful service as an mechanical engineer. Harry was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Society for the Preservation of Spirituals, the St. Cecelia Society, the SC Agricultural Society, the Low Country and Edisto Island Open Land Trusts and the SC Historical Society Harry enjoyed spending his free time at Brick House on Edisto with Family and Friends. Harry is survived by his five children: Thomas Cordes Lucas Hutson(Ann), Harry Colcock(Cork) Hutson III(Susan), Katherine Jenkins(Kit) Turek(Tim),William Vaughan Hutson(Lee) and Richard Elliott Hutson(Helen) as well as eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His family would like his caregivers and Hospice of Charleston to know how much they appreciate the love, care and kindness shown to their father. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
