Graveside services for Harriette "Cutie" Smythe Gantt will be held Tuesday, June 7, at 4:00 pm in the cemetery of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina.Mrs. Gantt died Sunday, June 5, 2016. Born March 28, 1928, in Laurens, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Robert Wade Smythe and the late Harriette Hughes Smythe Huff. A graduate of Converse College, she was a member and past president of the Junior League of Columbia; was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina; the Columbia Garden Club; and the Novel Book Club.Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. John Mackall Gantt Jr. (Connor) of Isle of Palms, SC, and Mr. and Mrs. David Huff Gantt (Martha) of Camden, SC; grandchildren: Mrs. Willard Bagwell (Bessie) of Sullivan's Island, SC; Mrs. Michael Calder (Harriette) of Isle of Palms, SC; Mrs. Ernest Horres Jr. (Mackall) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Miss Charlotte Gantt of Columbia, SC; Miss Mary Hay Gantt of Charleston, SC; and Miss Henrietta Gantt of Camden, SC; great-grandsons George, James, and John Bagwell of Sullivan's Island, SC, and Ernest Horres III of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and great-granddaughters Harriette and Simmons Calder of Isle of Palms, SC, and Emily and Caroline Horres of Mt. Pleasant, SC.The family will greet friends at 118 Palm Boulevard on the Isle of Palms Monday night from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and after the service in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia.In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to First Presbyterian Church of Columbia or Hospice of Charleston.Arrangements by James A.
