Gretchen Rhinehardt Smith, 68, of Summerville, widow of Charles Joseph Smith died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 The relatives and friends of Gretchen Rhinehardt Smith are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Gretchen was born on May 15, 1946, in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late Floyd and Dorothy Warr Rhinehardt of Germany. Gretchen is survived by one adored daughter (the love of her life), Chassity Ann Smith; one beloved sister, Irmia Rhinehardt Bartlett; nieces, Teresa McDonough Crystal Hirt, Brandy Wade, Kelly Shelton, Kimberly Duffen-Faulkner and Irma Sisk. Gretchen is survived by love, three sisters-in-law, Catherine Haley, Anne Harter and Mary Smith Poirier. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Joseph Smith; son, Robert Michael Smith; two brothers, Jesse Rhinehardt and Alexander Rhinehardt; two sisters, Patricia Rhinehardt Duffen and Loretta Rhinehardt Bailey; and brother-in-law, Matthew A.
