August 27, 2017 — July 24, 2009

Grady W. Query August 27, 1917 - July 23, 2009 Loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, family was the center of his life. He was the last surviving of six children born to James and Jennie Query. He considered his marriage of sixty-five years to Grace Austin Query his crowning achievement and devoted the last ten years of his active life to her full time care as she struggled with Alzheimer's. She succumbed to that illness in 2006. Inventor, farmer, entrepreneur and writer he held fourteen U. S. Patents, numerous proprietary EPA formulations and founded several successful companies. He was a Mason and served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Matthews Methodist Church for many years where he was known for his devotion to his duty as a steward of the church. During World War II he served as civilian worker certified to fumigate troop ships with deadly cyanide gas. He established a fumigation program for The Citadel under the personal supervision of General Summerall when the cadet population was threatened with a deadly outbreak of Typhus. Thereafter working in conjunction with the U.S. Public Health Service he established a door to door fumigation program in response to a Typhus epidemic in Manning, S.C. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace, his beloved daughter Jane and is survived by his son Grady Query, two grandchildren, Kristin and Grady Wolfram Query and his great grandson, Austin Bishop Query. The family is forever grateful to his wonderful devoted and diligent caretaker, Hope Millar In lieu of flowers donations should be made to MUSC Alzheimer's Research and Clinical Programs, Folly Beach Methodist Church or Pet Helpers.
