Grace B. Elsey

Grace Brown Elsey widow of Thurman A. Elsey, Sr. of John's Island, S.C. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at her home. Mrs Elsey was born May 31,1919, in Charleston, S.C. a daughter of Henry J. and Edith Sarkis Brown and graduated from Bishop England High School She was the last survivor of five children. Along with being a great mother and grandmother, Mrs Elsey worked part time at the John's Island Post Office, at Sam Solomons' in the jewelry department, but mostly worked and enjoyed her catering business where she was able to be a part of many "Island" family functions over many years. Surviving are her sons, Thurman A. Elsey, Jr., Wade Allen Elsey, Larry William Elsey, and Dr. Donald Edward Elsey and her daughter, Diane Elsey Phillips, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Grace B. Elsey are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
