Gloria Walker Moorhead

Entered into eternal rest in Orlando, Fl. on August 16, 2012, Gloria Walker Moorhead, formerly of Charleston. She was the youngest daughter of eleven children born to John L. and Catherine (Katie) L. Walker on December 25, 1927, in Charleston. She graduated from Bishop England High School, attended the University of South Carolina and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. On October 6, 1951 she married Seth B. Moorhead and made their home in Cheverly, MD until 1957 when they moved to Orlando where Seth worked for Martin Marietta and they raised their children. She graced the society pages of the Orlando Sentinel Star and local tv in the 1970's with her tireless efforts as a member of the board of the American Cancer Society, Lock Haven Art Center's Counsel of 101, and Orlando Symphony Guilde, to name a few. Following their divorce, she became successful in commercial real estate sales. She is survived by her three children, Seth Brown (Elizabeth) Moorhead III; Marguerite Jennifer Moorhead and Timothy Russell (Jane) Moorhead and two grandchildren, James Michael Moorhead and Patrick Russell Moorhead. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Walker and Betty O'Conner, and her brothers Russell, Henry and James Walker. The relatives and friends of Gloria Walker Moorhead are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
