September 30, 1952 — April 4, 2025

Glenda Gail Marvin, 72, beloved wife of John Donald Marvin of Charleston , daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home to be with the Lord and entered into eternal rest Friday, April 4, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 PM Friday, April 11, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 95 Hasell Street, Charleston, with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall.

Glenda is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Marvin; brothers David Maupin of Vancouver, Washington, his wife Sue Mack, and granddaughter Lilly Rush, and Gary Maupin of Everson, Washington and his two sons and Glenda's beloved nephews, Keith Maupin of East Honolulu, Hawaii, and Brian Maupin of Arlington, Washington, and his wife Jenna Robinson, sons Blake & Gunner, and daugher Reagan. Glenda had numerous aunts and uncles now deceased along with many cousins. She was especially close to Shirley Maynard(Schlumbaum) & her husband Roger Maynard of Loon Lake, Washington, their children Angela and Matt and numerous grandchildren, Wayne Schlumbaum of Marysville, Washington, and Claudine Betty Luther of Clovis, New Mexico. Glenda was preceded in death by her mother & father in 1992, and sister, Mary Maupin Runge in 2018.

Glenda was born September 30, 1952 in Longview, Washington, the second of four children born to Joseph Bradley Maupin and Frances Jewel Maupin (Sutton).
Glenda spent much of her childhood growing up in Burlington, Washington actively involved in school activities and graduated from Burlington-Edison High School. Growing up on a farm, she loved her horses, dogs, cats, and carried a love and compassion for her pets and took the best care of them throughout their lives. After high school, Glenda obtained a certification as a Medical Assistant besides taking courses at Western Washington University. She met her husband while both were in their teens and after some years, she and her husband John were married February 1979 in Bellingham, Washington. She became active in the Community where she volunteered for many organizations including the Board of Whatcom Hospice Foundation, St Joseph Hospital Sarah Debra Auxiliary, Cancer Society and American Heart Association, and working with a group of friends to raise money for the LAM Foundation after one of her dear friends came down with the disease, along with other community events too numerous to list. Glenda loved traveling and in her life was able to visit Europe, Asia, Morocco, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Glenda loved creating a beautiful environment in all of her homes and loved fashion, art, design, and inherited from her mother her gift of hospitality and opening up her home to so many family, friends, and strangers. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and until recently hosted almost all holidays, birthdays and other celebrations for her family, besides opening up her home to family, friends, foreign exchange students, and family members who came to live in their home. Glenda had a wide circle of friends and as she moved with her husband as his job relocated him to Houston, TX and later Long Beach, CA. In both places she made deep and lasting friendships which exist to this day. She especially had a deep affection for her two nephews, Brian and Keith, and from the time they were born, spent much time and lavished love, affection, and attention on their well being and in later years extended that care and affection to Brian and Jenna's children, Blake, Gunner and Raegan, and her brother Dave and his wife Sue's granddaughter, Lilly.

In the early years of their marriage, Glenda and John were caregivers to her parents for many years as they struggled with health issues up to the time of their death. She helped provide care to her husband John's mother as she dealt with Alzheimer's disease, and later became the caregiver for her sister Mary for several years and brought her to live in their home until she passed away from cancer. Because she saw how devastating health issues can be working in the Medical field, and besides caring for family members suffering from disease, from an early age she lived a healthy and fit lifestyle, but in the last few months of life battled and succumbed to pancreatic cancer

Glenda lived a full and virtuous life and she departs this world to stand in confidence before her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends, and especially me, her husband John. Just before Glenda passed away, I was able to tell her I was the most blessed man to have had the incredible privilege of being married to her as my beloved wife these past 46 years. She truly was the virtuous wife described in the 31st chapter of the Book of Proverbs:

"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her"
(Proverbs 31:30-31)
