Ginny Pruitt

December 11, 1934 — April 29, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of "Ginny" Pruitt, a beloved, mother, and friend, who departed this life peacefully from her home in Charleston, South Carolina, on the 29th of April, 2026, at the age of 91.

The relatives and friends of Geneva "Ginny" Pruitt are invited to attend her Funeral Service 1:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2026 from Folly Beach Baptist Church, 77 Center Street, Folly Beach, SC. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Ginny will be laid to rest Saturday in Marietta, GA.

Born on December 11, 1934, in Pleasant Valley, Georgia, Ginny lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ginny was a vibrant soul who was affectionately referred to as the "Mouth of the South" for her charming Southern accent and her gift for conversation. Her love for her church and meeting new people was matched only by her ability to create lasting connections with those around her...she truly never met a stranger.

Ginny's engaging nature allowed her to thrive in her career as an Administrative Assistant in civil service at Lockheed-Martin, where she made many friends and colleagues who admired her dedication and zest for life. A devout member of Folly Beach Baptist Church, Geneva was actively involved in her community and generously shared her time with her church. Her love for reading, especially the Bible, was a cornerstone of her daily life. She would often read the bible with her grandchildren, which was a fond memory of her Caitlin "Caty-love".

Ginny found joy in poetry, which led her to be a published poet. Her creativity was further reflected in her flower arrangements, sewing her daughters' dresses, and "antiquing" her kitchen cabinets with a friend in her beloved home off of Villa Rica Rd., where she raised her girls.

Ginny was a Majorette at Marietta High School, where she met her husband Bob. Later, her daughter Mechelle also became a Majorette for McEachern High School and marched on the same field as her mother. Ginny loved sharing things she enjoyed with her children. She would drive to pick up Mechelle's "sister cousin" Melinda to go roller skating on weekends. She often bought matching clothes for Mechelle and Melinda as we attended Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Ginny lost two children during pregancy, before and after she had Mechelle. Ginny and her husband Bob adopted a little girl, Lee Ann, when Mechelle was eight years old. Growing up in the country, Mechelle and Lee Ann often rode a mini-bike in the yard, and they could hear Ginny saying "slow-down!" Ginny met Allan Pruitt after she and Bob had parted. Her daughter Lee Ann married and had six wonderful children. Caitlin always had memories of her Me-maw leaving her voicemails saying, " I LOOVVE YOU".

Ginny made up little poems and sang them to her Grandchildren. She never could sing on key so Mechelle would always stand next to her to help.

Ginny is survived by her devoted daughter, Mechelle Neunsinger, who carries forward her mother's legacy of love, creativity, and faith. She always enjoyed visits with her faithful grand dogs, Mocha and Rusty. Also surviving are her daughter Lee Ann, who was always close to her heart; 6 Grandchildren: Lee Edward George (Summer, Katherine, Lincoln) Jonathan Allan George (Stephanie, Luke, Gavin), Bethany Mechelle George, Zachery Johnson George (Amanda, James, Lila), Caitlin George McCance ( Andrew) and Bonnie Samantha George; brother Tony Owens (Diane, Tony, Jr.,Kay). Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Allan Pruitt, her mother Bonnie Corley, and her brother Bill Owens.

In keeping with Ginny's loving spirit, we invite all who cherished her to join us in celebrating her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on all our hearts. Ginny Pruitt will be remembered not only for her many talents and generous heart but also for the profound way she embodied the essence of Southern hospitality, love, and compassion. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the joyous memories she gifted to us all.

The family would like to thank Interim Hospice caregivers, Nurse Michele, Moriah, Cortney, and Cortney Scott. Griswold Caregivers, Maxine and Gabriel. We also thank her dedicated Folly Beach Baptist Church group, Christy, Nancy, Ann, Mary, Pris Wright, and Pastor Clark Carter.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Folly Beach Baptist Church in recognition of Ginny's unwavering faith and service. Her memory will forever remain a light in our lives.
