Georgia J. Hoppmann (née Hansen), 80, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 8:00 PM, Monday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway.
Georgia was the daughter of Christy and Loretta Hansen, both of whom preceded her in death. Georgia was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Hoppmann Jr. and her brother, Kirby Hansen.
Georgia cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three children, Christina Ingle (Mark), Lt. Col. (Ret.) John Hoppmann (Mary-Stuart) and Monica Smith (Steve); her grandchildren, Johnthan Ingle (Hannah), Ashley Ingle, Morgan-McKay Tomlin (Adam), Carolina-Grace Hoppmann, John-Thomas Hoppmann and Mickey Smith. Georgia is also survived by her brother, David Hansen and sister, Kathy Holcomb, as well as many dear friends.
Georgia found joy in the word of the Lord and the simple beauty of the world around her. She loved driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking and camping with her family, tending to her garden, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
