George Joseph Schnabel II, 62, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from persistent health issues. The relatives and friends of George William Schnabel II are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Graveside, Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Ft. Johnson Rd., James Island
George was born in Buffalo, NY, to proud parents George and Jean Schnabel. George graduated from Elmira College in 1977, with a focus in Psychology and Communication. With George’s outgoing personality, and desire to connect with others, he gravitated to sales. Upon graduation, George began his career in insurance sales, moved on to financial planning, and ultimately, luxury car sales. Because of his passion for industry and product knowledge, in addition to his willingness to go the extra mile, George had tremendous success. His reputation preceded him, and soon he was being sought after by name.
George’s passion went far beyond his profession. He was fueled by his desire to provide for his family. His family was always the center of his world. Teaching, sharing, and playing music with his eldest son brought George great satisfaction. Witnessing his second-born son win countless athletic accolades – from swimming to soccer – gave George a sense of gratification that was unparalleled. And watching his youngest son compete against his brothers brought George great pleasure.
Many Augusts consisted of vacationing in Charleston, SC, with his boys and mother, Jean. George loved the beach, sunshine, bobbing in the waves, and rafting with his boys. After the beach, circling Wild Dunes on bike – while stopping to take pictures of his boys rollerblading - was the ideal end to his day.
George’s work ethic, passion, and success was motivated by the love of his family. He worked to give his family every opportunity he could provide them – and his family is eternally grateful. George is survived by his three sons, Peter (35), Chip (32), and Jamie (29) – as well as his two grandsons, Kane (7) and Brady (4).
