George Wingate Huthmacher

George Wingate Huthmacher, Jr., 88, husband of Doris C. Huthmacher, passed away November 06, 2016. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Huthmacher are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. George was born in Charleston on May 22, 1928, a son of the late George W. and Ruby Nix Huthmacher. He graduated from The Citadel in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and retired at the age of 72 from SPAWAR (Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic). He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of St. Andrews Parish. George is survived by his wife of 31 years; children, George W. Huthmacher III (Pauline), Pauli H. Spurgeon (Mike), Susan (Beth) H. Butler (Jim); 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, August C. Huthmacher,  Rev. Herbert L. Huthmacher, Henry R. Huthmacher; sisters, Betty J. Crenshaw  and Helen M. Barto; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Transitions Hospice, 405 N. Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
