Genevieve Danker

Genevieve Baker Danker, 95, widow of Walter A. Danker, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. She was born in Charleston on December 23, 1914, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Hogan Baker. She was the captain of her basketball team at Bishop England High School and graduated in the class of 1933. She moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1945 with her husband, Walter. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church until moving to Seminole, FL where she joined St. Paul's Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters: Mary Caskadon of Bradenton, FL and Gale Schramek of Seminole, FL; a son: Walter A. Danker, Jr.; Pinehurst, NC; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. this Sunday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, at 11:00 AM Monday, August 23, 2010. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island.
