Gayle Leslie Bulwinkle

Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 23, 2010, Gayle Leslie Nelson Bulwinkle, wife of Bert H. Bulwinkle, Jr. Residence, James Island, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bert H. Bulwinkle, Jr. are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1620 Savannah Hwy. on Tuesday evening between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Burial will be held privately Gayle was born in Key West. FL. on February 10, 1947, a daughter of William Stewart and Alice Archer Nelson and graduated from Jamesland High School. She was employed by the United States Lines for many years. Gayle loved to fish and be on the water. She could often be found on a boat in the creeks and rivers with Bert. When they weren't fishing they were playing pool with friends. Gayle enjoyed watching birds in her backyard on James Island and had a small garden where she grew vegetables. She is survived by her husband, Bert H. Bulwinkle, Jr.; her parents, William and Alice Nelson; a daughter, Cheryl B. Herns; two grandchildren: Gretchen H. Malone and Alison H. Hassel; a sister: Linda N. Sprague and her husband, Ashton, as well as two nieces: Kathy Smoak and Kimberly Peterson. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Helpers 1430 Folly Rd. James Island, SC 29412.
