Gail Lynn Ferri

Gail Knight Ferri, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on April 27, 2026. She was born on April 21, 1960, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Betty and Jennings Knight.Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2026, at the graveside, Riverview Memorial Park. The family will recieve friends Friday Morning between 11:00 AM and 12:15 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway.

Gail was a proud graduate of St. Andrew’s High School in West Ashley, where she was recognized as a Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of Charleston.

Gail built a successful career in the insurance industry, certified as an Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR). She worked with several agencies throughout the Charleston area and earned a reputation as one of the foremost advisors in commercial insurance. Her knowledge, professionalism, and dedication made a lasting impact on both colleagues and clients.

On September 3, 1983, Gail married the love of her life, Paul Emil Ferri, and together they built a full and joyful home with their three children. Gail could often be found on the sidelines, proudly cheering them on in all their pursuits. She was also Paul's biggest fan and proudly supported his band, Permanent Vacation. Good meals shared around the table with her family were among her most treasured moments.

Gail had an enormous heart that extended to every member of her household, including her beloved Yorkies, whom she adored with characteristic devotion. But perhaps her greatest joy in life came with the arrival of her granddaughter, Emilia. As "Gigi," Gail found a love that was immeasurable, attending dance recitals and cherishing every moment with her precious girl.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Jennings Knight, and her brother, Ronnie Knight. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Ferri; her daughter Allison Scales and son-in-law Nathan Scales; her son Brian Ferri; her daughter Kelly Ferri; and her cherished granddaughter, Emilia Scales.

In lieu of flowers, Gail requested that donations be made in her memory to the National Down Syndrome Society or to GiGi's Playhouse, in honor of her beloved brother, Ronnie Knight.
