G. Chadwick Guerry

G. Chadwick Guerry, 80, of James Island, SC, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 11, 2018. The relatives and friends of Mr. G. Chadwick Guerry are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the graveside, Holy Cross Cemetery. Chad was born in Bonneau, S.C., the son of Grover George Guerry and Katherine Wyndham Guerry. He graduated from The High School of Charleston and worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Chad's "country roots" remained with him throughout his life; he was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and nature. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking. Chad could always be relied on to lend a helping hand and was a very good listener. He was a soft spoken, well-respected man, who will be greatly missed by family and friends .Surviving are his daughter, Victoria G. Dotson, and his son, Richard C. Guerry, both of Charleston. Also surviving him are his "sisters", Irene R. Bennett (Arnold) and Bernadette R. Knisley (Ed) and his "brother", Edward P. Richards. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 42 years, Anne Richards Guerry, the love of his life whom he met in high school. His sister, Joline Guerry Shamis, also predeceased him.The family wishes to express their gratitude for the extraordinary hospice group at Caris Healthcare as well as his caring and compassionate sitters, Delores, Leverne, Pamela and Sondra.
