Frederick Julian Leamond, Jr.

Frederick Julian LeaMond, Jr. passed on April 17, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Charleston on October 29, 1926, son of the late Honorable Frederick Julian LeaMond, Sr. and Catherine Dowling LeaMond. Widower of Catherine M. LeaMond and husband of Florence Marie Lane LeaMond. Father of Lana T. Meredith, Linda L. Blanchard (David), Julie L. Donoghue (Tim) and Frederick Julian LeaMond, III. Stepfather of Patricia L. Reece, David M. Lane (Melissa) and Jerry D. Lane. Mr. LeaMond was honorably discharged from the US Merchant Marines as well as the US Navy, Army and Coast Guard. He was the retired President and Owner of Allied Paper Company. Upon retirement his love and knowledge of Charleston led to his founding and operation of Historic Colony Tours. Mr. LeaMond was a Lifetime member of B.P.O. Elks of Charleston, longtime member of Charlie Woods Hunt Club and Lowcountry Senior Center. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Catherine L. Dunlap, sisters-in-law Lois LeaMond and Frances Tarte, brother-in-law Ralph V. McLaughlin. Preceded in death by sister Jean L. McLaughlin and brothers John E. LeaMond and Harold J. LeaMond. His grandchildren Richard Meredith, Brian (Melissa) Meredith, Scott (Trisha), Elizabeth L. Cleveland (Jon) and Sarah A. Dixon will miss his wealth of knowledge and chocolate milkshakes. Also, his numerous great-grand children, nieces and nephews will miss the pleasure of hearing his "TRUE STORIES". The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick J. LeaMond, Jr. are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad St. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM this Thursday evening at the James A McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy.
