Charles Frank Heape, 90, of Charleston, the husband of Helen McCulloch Heape, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 27, 2011. He was born in Charleston, the son of, John Madison Heape and Carlotta Rivers Heape, on Friday, August 20, 1920. Frank was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School and a US Army veteran. He was a retired Naval Architect Technician at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Frank was a fixture at George's where he enjoyed the company of his many good friends and rooted on the Clemson Tigers. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and enjoyed a game of pool. Frank loved to sail with one of his best friends John Conroy, often going to the Bahamas. The shipyard sent him on numerous trips to other shipyards in Spain and Scotland, trips that Frank truly enjoyed. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 68 years, Helen M. Heape of West Ashley; a niece, Elizabeth Biller and her husband Lowell of Kingsport, TN; a great niece, Shannon Meadows and very special nieces and nephews, JoAnn Garvin, John Nelson, Jr., Christine Pedersen, David Ebner, Randall Ebner, Russell McCulloch, Susan Spurlock, Katherine Greene, Diane Rogers and Harry Joye, Jr. Frank was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth Heape Kennedy; his brother, John M. Heape, Jr. and his uncle, "Big" Frank Heape. The relatives and friends of C. Frank Heape are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at John Wesley United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 PM. The burial will be held in Old St. Andrews Episcopal Churchyard.
