Frances H. Davis

Mary Frances Heaton Davis, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018. The relatives and friends of Mary Frances Heaton Davis are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Johns Island Presbyterian Church, 2550 Bohicket Road. Interment will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
Frances was born December 12, 1927, in Charleston, South Carolina, a daughter of Leila Nettles and Pinckney Hugo Heaton, Sr. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School and earned her BA degree in English from the College of Charleston. Previously employed as a social worker for Charleston County, Frances later taught elementary school, from which she eventually retired. She was also a life-long member of Johns Island Presbyterian Church. A woman of incredible character, Frances deeply touched so many lives. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Predeceased by her eldest son, Frank O. Davis, Jr., and her sister, Mildred H. Osterkamp, Frances is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frank Odell Davis, Sr. She is also survived by her brother, Pinckney H. Heaton, Jr. of Clinton, NC; her three sons: Marion P. Davis, Sr. (Shaun), Wade H. Davis (Anne) and Lee W. Davis, Sr. (Rebecca), all of Charleston; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
