Evelyn P. Sullivan

Evelyn P. Sullivan, 98, of Charleston, widow of Daniel J. Sullivan, died at home on Friday, January 17, 2014. The relatives and friends of Evelyn P. Sullivan are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 21, 2014, from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad Street., Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Mrs. Sullivan was born on January 5, 1916, in Charleston, the daughter of Mack H. and Elizabeth Simmons Pooser. She was a graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. She is survived by five children: Mary Ann Sullivan and Patricia S. Gustafson (Gus) of Charleston; Kathleen S. Middleton of Haiku, HI; Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr. (Mimi) and Michael A. Sullivan (Maureen) of Atlanta, GA; 7 grandchildren: Alicia M. Stephens (Jon) of Raleigh, NC; Kenneth S. Gustafson, Jr. (Ann Kimball) of Charleston; Dr. Andrew L. Middleton of Miami, FL; Sarah E. Sullivan, Daniel J. Sullivan III, John M. Sullivan, and Anna N. Sullivan, and 3 great-grandchildren, Court Sullivan and Grant Andrew Stephens of Raleigh, NC, and Amelia Evelyn Gustafson of Charleston. The family also expresses special appreciation to her caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daniel J. and Evelyn P. Sullivan Scholarship Fund at Bishop England High School, 363 Seven Farms Drive, Charleston, SC 29492, or to the Salvation Army.
