Eugene Stephen Godawski

Eugene S. Godawski - Charleston Eugene Stephen Godawski, Sr. passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, at age 83. He was born to Alexander and Jennie Godawski on November 17, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Godawski and their four children; a daughter, Terry Fisher (John)of Charleston, a son, Eugene Godawski, Jr, of Moncks Corner, a daughter, Cheryl Ritter (Stephen) of Simpsonville SC, and a son, Michael Godawski, of West Columbia SC, three grandchildren; Gregory Fisher(Tanessa), Lindsay Fisher, and Nicholas Ritter; two great grandsons Cooper & Owen Fisher and one sister, Helen Olshefski of Bowie, MD. Gene enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948 after high school where he retired as an E-8 Senior Chief Dental Technician in 1970. He was owner of Godawski Dental Lab from 1976 until 2007. Gene was a life time member of the Charleston Bowling Association, was inducted into the Charleston area Bowling Hall of Fame and was a Past President of the CABC (Charleston American Bowling Congress). He is a life time member of the American Legion Post 179 and a member of the Charleston Rifle Club. Though anyone who knew Gene, knew his real passion was golf.where he will be awaiting us at the 19th hole. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene S. Godawski are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
