Charleston, SC - Ernestine Jones Richter, 99, widow of Louis Tobias Richter Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 14, 2013. A native of Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Irvin L. and Ida T. Jones. A graduate of Memminger High School, Ernestine spent a great part of her life as a homemaker before starting her working years as a bookkeeper. She served Sears & Roebuck, Merritt Dredging, and ultimately retired from Adams & Ortman Jewelers. A devout Catholic, she was previously a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies' Sodality. Currently she is a member of Nativity Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Leisure Club. Ernestine was a proud member of the National Association of Federal Retirees. Mrs. Richter was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will be missed by her large and loving family. Survivors include her daughter, Azalia R. LaTorre and husband Walter, 4 sons: Louis T. Richter Jr., Ernest A. Richter and wife Elaine, Ronald L. Richter and wife Sandra, Gary F. Richter and wife Diane, 1 Daughter-in-Law, Susan B. Richter, widow of son William R. Richter, 21 Grandchildren, 37 Great-grandchildren, and 4 Great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Ernestine Jones Richter are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road on James Island. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 6:00 & 8:00 PM Monday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home.
