Ernest Jirard Sifford, Jr. (Jerry) peacefully entered into his eternal life on June 20, 2017, in his home after a six-month illness, and with his wife of 47 years, Nancy Price Sifford, at his side. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Sifford, Jr. are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 23, 2017, at St. Philip's Church. Interment will be held at a later date in North Carolina. The family will receive friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Thursday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Jirard Sifford and Helen Gilbert Sifford; his twin brother, Robert Gilbert Sifford and aunt, Daisy Sifford Littlefield.Jerry grew up in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Myers Park High School. He attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from the University of Georgia. In 1986 he and Nancy relocated from Charlotte to Charleston, which became their adopted home for the past 32 years. He was a Certified Property Manager in commercial real estate.He was a member of St. Philip’s Church, where he served as former chair of the Property Committee and chalice bearer. Jerry was a long time member of both the Coastal Carolina Council Executive Board and the Coastal Boys Council, where he was serving as president. He was an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Silver Beaver award. He was past president of the Charleston and the State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was past master of Solomon’s Lodge # 1, and was proud of his 25 years of perfect attendance at the Rotary Club of Charleston where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Other organizations include, Society of Colonial Wars, Society of the Cincinnati in the state of Georgia, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Military Order of Stars and Bars, Washington Light Infantry, the Palmetto Guard, the Caledonian Club of Charleston and many others. He was a member of the Charleston and Sea Island Yacht Clubs, the Middleton Hunting Club, and Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte.In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by family members: Janice Price, Susan and Ron Long, Russell B. Price, Russell C. Price, Amanda, David, Peyton and Corbin Frederick. Also surviving is his cousin, Harold Davis and his extended family of Gilbert cousins in Alabama and Florida. He appreciated special friends Dennis and Travis Connolly of Charleston and Dave Osborn of Mill Spring, NC.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Shriners Hospital, 950 W.
