Ernest Poole

Ernest "Ernie" Burdell Poole, a native of Charleston, died at his residence on Sunday, April 13, 2014. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. All other services will be private. Ernie was born on Wednesday, September 20, 1950, in downtown Charleston to Carl and Elizabeth Droppert Poole. He was a graduate of Bishop England High School and the University of South Carolina. He retired from Charleston County DSS after many years of faithful service. Ernie was a loving, caring father and grandfather. He loved the game of golf and playing drums. His favorite band by far were The Beatles. He loved animals and always had Springer Spaniels. Ernie is survived by Carolyn Poole; two brothers, Larry and Ervin Rourke; three children, Stephen, Daniel, and Annie Poole; and one granddaughter, Allison Grace.
