Erline Cecilia Lavella

Erline Cecilia LaVella widow of Lawrence A. LaVella (former wife of the late David J. Sharp, Jr.) died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Sandpiper Nursing and Rehab Center, Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was born in Charleston on November 11, 1919, a daughter of Henry L. Friend and Mary A. Friend. Erline was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a member of the Theresians. She was predeceased by a daughter Virginia L. Cooper. Erline worked as a bookkeeper for Cream Crest Dairy. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing her piano and sewing for herself and others. She is survived by a son, David J Sharp III, four daughters: Mary K. Dorkewitz (Henry), Sharon A. Meyer (Robert), Mary Ann Benoit (Jerry), and Cynthia C. Wolfe (William); 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Erline C. LaVella are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway.
