English H. Kerr English Harrison Rumph Kerr, wife of Richard Hoffman Kerr, of John's Island, South Carolina died June 6, 2009, at her residence. She was born November 1, 1940, in Charleston, SC a daughter of the late Virginia Calhoun and Edward Guilford Harrison. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Ashley Rumph and brother, Edward Guilford Harrison, III. English was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a participant in Cursillo #40 and served on staff at #51. She was a school teacher and cofounder of Christ Kindergarten on James Island. For the past 16 years she was a rental manager on Seabrook and Kiawah Islands. English served in various school and church capacities while her children were growing up and served as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharistic at her church. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by two sons, Stuart Ashley Rump and wife, Michelle and Bradford English Rumph and wife, Sally; five grand children, William Beach Whitner, Dylan Thompson Whitner, Caroline English Grace Rumph, Campbell Bradford Rumph and Katherine Land Rumph; three sisters, Jane Harrison Tupper and husband, George; Lisa Harrison Walpole and husband, Ben and Lyn Harrison Bolling and husband, Ed, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers in-law, John Anthony Kerr and his wife, Virginia, and James Joseph Kerr and wife, Bunny. Visitation will be held at the residence, Seven Oaks Plantation, 1915 River Road on John's Island between 4:00 and 7:00 PM Wednesday evening. A Vigil and Rosary will begin at 6:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday June 11, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at St. John's Parish Episcopal Churchyard on John's Island.
