Elizabeth Truesdale Skinner, 94, widow of Tom Moore Skinner, passed away on January 3, 2017. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Elizabeth T. Skinner are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Friday January 6, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1157 Sam Rittenburg Blvd. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Baptist Churchyard, Bishopville, SC. Elizabeth was born in Bethune, SC on October 18, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Ada Truesdale. She was a long-time resident of the West Columbia area and served the state of South Carolina in several capacities during her career, including the State Board of Nursing and Child Services Adoption Agency. She was an avid gardener, a wonderful cook, and she loved her family – both two and four-legged alike. Elizabeth is predeceased by her sister Kathleen Knipe, her brother Edward L. “Buck” Truesdale, and her daughter Sylvia. She is survived by daughters Pat Skees of Chapin, SC and Tommye Owen of Charleston, SC. Her grandchildren Robyne Shealy (Doug), Lee Essick, Jennifer Allen, Matt Owen (Ginger), and pre-deceased by Wesley Owen. Her great grandchildren Adam Shealy (Denise), Sullivan McMahan, Madeline Allen, Taylor Essick, and Tad Owen. She also has many cousins, nieces, and nephews, who love her and will miss her dearly. Memorial donations may be made to Jenkins Orphanage of Charleston or the Humane Society of Columbia.
