She was lovingly raised on Wadmalaw Island, SC by her late grandparents, William Rogers and Katherine Seabrook Hart, on Hart's Bluff where she enjoyed swimming, catching seafood, and the bountiful produce that was raised. She learned to bake wonderful cakes and pies from scratch and was known for her homemade chocolate pudding. Betty attended school on Johns Island and graduated from Winthrop College with a degree in Home Economics. She taught for many years with Charleston County Schools, including Rosemont, Riverland Terrace and Murray-Lasaine Elementary Schools. Betty was a member of Saint James Church, where she raised her family and participated in the Episcopal Church Women and the Altar Guild. She also was a member of The King's Daughters. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who was cherished by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Betty is survived by three children: Philip Hart Cannon (Cathy) of Petaluma, CA, Katherine Cannon Norris (Jamie) of Charleston, SC, and Ernestine "Tina" Bailey Cannon Doscher (Ricky) of Charleston, SC. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Elizabeth Bailey Moise, Benjamin Philip (Michelle) Diaz Cannon, Alexander Scott Cannon, Katherine Seabrook Norris, Julia Hayes Norris, and Elizabeth Jones Norris; and one great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Kimrey Smith. There is no doubt that the crafts, food, fellowship and the wonderful programs in which she participated extended her time on this earth.
