Eleanor Clark Thompson "Skipper", 90, of James Island, the widow of John Rhodes Thompson "Tommy", entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 9, 2011. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Hal Beck Clark and Wilna Beam Clark on March 30, 1921. Eleanor attended Iowa State University just prior to her marriage to the love of her life, John "Tommy". During the years that John was in the Army, Eleanor volunteered with the Army Motor Corps Red Cross. She continued as a volunteer with the Red Cross and James Island Presbyterian Church for many years. A devoted wife and caring mother, her home and family always came first. Eleanor is survived by three daughters, Sheila Watson and her husband Jim, Billie Dixon, Linda Whilden and her husband Randy; a son, John B. Thompson and his wife Yvonne; five grandchildren, Ron, Mike, Chris, Adam, Kenra and six great grandchildren, Jamie, Ron Jr, Paul, Mark, Kyah and Brandon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The relatives and friends of Eleanor C. Thompson are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the James Island Presbyterian Church, 1632 Ft. Johnson Road, James Island. The Committal will be held in the James Island Presbyterian Churchyard. A reception will follow at the church fellowship hall. Arrangements are by JAMES A.
