Eleanor Ingraham Hanckel Jenkins, widow of Edward Micah Jenkins, Jr., died Saturday evening, October 20, 2018, at her lifelong Coburg home. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Eleanor H. Jenkins are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 26, 2018, at St. Philip's Church. Burial will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends between 4:00 and 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 160 Coburg Rd.
Eleanor was born in Charleston on November 17, 1929, a daughter of Francis Stuart Hanckel and Pauline Brock Hasell Hanckel. She was a member of St Phillip’s Church, a former member of Junior League of Charleston, the Colonial Dames and a former board member of the Charleston Museum. Eleanor was a graduate of Memminger High School and Winthrop College.
She is survived by her daughters: Ellen Jenkins Harrell and her husband, Bobby and Susan Townsend Jenkins and her husband, Burk Herrin; her grandchildren: Elizabeth Townsend Sykes, Robert Craven Harrell (Madelyn), Lauren Sykes Dicus (Crafton) and Eleanor Christian Harrell and one great granddaughter, Coralei Dicus. She is also survived by her sisters, Charlotte Hanckel Hay and Sarah Ann Hanckel Jenkins (Arthur) and her brother, Francis Stuart Hanckel (Loraine). She was predeceased by sisters, Pauline Hanckel Weston and Estelle Hanckel Walpole as well as her brother, Richardson Miles Hanckel.
The family also would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers; Marie Washington, Annette Caldwell, Cynthia Gourdine, and Shanda Bumchamb.
