Entered into eternal rest on Sat June 9, 2012. Elbert (Bert) H. Bulwinkle was preceded in death by his wife Gayle Nelson Bulwinkle and daughter Carol Lynn Bulwinkle. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at 2:30 pm Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, 3374 Maybank Hwy., Johns Island, SC. The family will receive friends at James A. McAlister Funeral Home on Monday June 11, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be private. Bert was a native Charlestonian. He was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and also worshiped at Faith Lutheran. He was born Oct 24, 1933, son of Elbert H. Bulwinkle Sr. and Eunice Murray Bulwinkle. He was retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard, Electrical Planner, Shop 06. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Bert played pool in the American Pool Players Association on the team "Who's Next". He was a life member of the Charleston Elks Club. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW on James Island. Bert was an avid fisherman (Master Angler) and boater who love being on the water. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl B. Herns and her husband Kenneth of South Mills, NC. Grandchildren Gretchen Malone and her husband Lance of Summerville. Alison Herns of Camden, NC, four great-grandchildren: Audrey Lynn, Kayla Marie, Dillon Chase, Chloe Beth; a treasured Sister-In-Law Linda Sprague and her husband Buck of Charleston; and beloved companion Gerri Dozier of James Island. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Faith Lutheran Church, 3374 Maybank Hwy, Johns Island SC, 29455.
