Edith Lee Myers, 91, of Eutawville, SC, formerly of Wadmalaw and Johns Islands and widow of John Cleveland Myers, Sr. entered into eternal rest Friday, August 04, 2023. The relatives and friends of Edith Lee Myers are invited to attend her Graveside Funeral Service 1:00 PM Friday, August 11, 2023 at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Thursday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston.
A native of Wadmalaw Island, Edith was born October 15, 1931, a daughter of the late Mattie Pye and Leonard W. Carter. She attended Wadmalaw Island Schools and Walterboro High School. Edith worked briefly as a tomato selector at the tomato sheds on Johns Island, but spent the majority of her working life as a Seamstress. A member of Stono Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Disabled Veterans' Association, a Life Member of Roderick G. Patterson Chapter #77, and the West Ashley and Stono Outboard Motor Club, as well as volunteering her time at the VA Hospital in Charleston.
Edith lived the past 17 years in Eutawville. She is survived by her 2 sons, John C. Myers, Jr. (Julia) and Robert L. Myers (Margie); her Stepdaughter Elaine Wilkie (David), 8 Grandchildren and Many Great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Climmie Batts, Shirley Smith, and Jeannette Nord; and her brother, Robert Carter. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Laura Rud, Ruth Redding, Elizabeth Grantham, Lila Levin, and Jimmie Wheeler; and her brother, William Carter.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials in Edith's memory may be made to the Stono Baptist Church, 953 Main Road, Johns Island, SC 29455.
